What order should you see Antalya in?
Short answer: split the city by direction and order the day by light. What tires you out in Antalya is not distance, it is doubling back across town. The four routes below avoid that: each one runs in a single direction and puts the waterfalls where the light is best.
Four day routes
The Düden day
The classic day, with the two waterfalls ordered by the light.
- Morning. Upper Düden. The wooded area is brighter before noon and the passage behind the water gets usable light. It is cooler too.
- Midday. The city centre or Kaleiçi. A natural break between the two sites.
- Late afternoon. Lower Düden. As the light softens the sea regains its colour and the cliffs read better.
- Evening. Karaalioğlu Park or the old harbour. The day ends looking over the bay from the cliff.
The history day
Reading the city’s layers on foot.
- Morning. Antalya Museum. What came out of the region’s ancient cities is gathered here, which frames the rest of the day.
- Midday. A stop on the coast towards Konyaaltı, with the Beydağları behind you.
- Afternoon. Kaleiçi. Enter through Hadrian’s Gate, wander the narrow streets, find the Yivli Minaret.
- Evening. The marina. The harbour inside the walls is the quietest part of the day.
The ancient cities day
A full day heading east by car.
- Morning. Perge. The colonnaded street and stadium cover a lot of ground; early is both cooler and emptier.
- Midday. Aspendos. The Roman theatre is close to intact; go inside and look at the stage.
- Afternoon. Side. A town among the ruins, and the Temple of Apollo above the water.
- Return. Coming back from the east, Lower Düden is on the way.
The nature day
Leaving the city for the green.
- Morning. Termessos. The ancient city on the mountain top asks for an uphill walk; make it the first thing you do.
- Midday. A long break on the way back. After that climb you will want one.
- Afternoon. Kurşunlu Waterfall. Quiet water stepping through pools in a canyon, the opposite rhythm to Düden.
- Evening. Back to the city. You can add Upper Düden to the same inland line if there is light left.
If you would rather build your own
Three rules cover it. First: one direction per day. If you are heading east, do not swing back west the same afternoon. Second: put whatever involves climbing in the morning, when it is cooler and quieter. Third: save the views and the photographs for late afternoon; midday light is hard, there is no shade in it and the sea goes flat.
Düden obeys all three: Upper Düden is the morning walk, Lower Düden the late-afternoon view, and the distance between them does not break the day.

Which routes should I pick for three days in Antalya?
A common and balanced three: the Düden day first, then the history day (museum and Kaleiçi), then the ancient cities on the eastern side. If you have a fourth day, add the nature day.
Do these routes work without a car?
The Düden day and the history day do; both stay inside the city. The ancient cities and the nature day leave town and want a car or a tour. Confirm public transport lines from a current source before setting out, since we do not print line numbers.
Are the times fixed?
No. “Morning” and “late afternoon” are suggestions based on light and crowds. None of them are opening hours; you still need to check when each site is open.
Which season is better?
Spring for the waterfalls: flow is high and the curtain is wide. It thins towards the end of summer. For ancient cities and walking routes, spring and autumn beat the summer heat comfortably.
