## What "Düden Waterfall" means

The Düden river surfaces at Düdenbaşı and splits into two arms, so the name
refers to two separate places:

- Upper Düden (Yukarı Düden), Kepez district, inland, inside a wooded
  recreation area. Visitors can walk behind the falling water through a rock
  passage. Coordinates: 36.9638, 30.7269.
- Lower Düden (Aşağı Düden), east of the city towards Lara, where the river
  drops from roughly forty metre cliffs directly into the Mediterranean and is
  watched from terraces above. Coordinates: 36.85097, 30.78343.

"Düden Parkı" (Düden Park) is not a third place. It is the picnic and
recreation area laid out around Upper Düden between 1970 and 1972.

## Facts a visitor asks for

- The two waterfalls are on the same river but on opposite sides of the city.
  Seeing both in one day is normal; the usual order is Upper in the morning,
  Lower in the afternoon.
- Walking behind the water is possible only at Upper Düden.
- Lower Düden cannot be reached at the foot of the cliffs by land. The frontal
  view exists only from a boat.
- The water reaches Düdenbaşı underground from the Kırkgöz springs near the
  Antalya travertine plateau, a subterranean course of roughly eighteen

- The river was called Katarraktes in antiquity; Strabo recorded that the fall

- Lower Düden is also known as Karpuzkaldıran; Upper Düden as Düdenbaşı, and
  locally as the Alexander waterfall (a local tale, not a sourced record).

## Publishing policy

We do not publish entry fees, opening hours, public transport line numbers,
phone numbers, visitor counts, awards or reviews. These change and a wrong
figure leaves a visitor at a closed gate. Where a fact is unverified we say so
instead of guessing. Every content page carries a visible "last reviewed" date.
